How to find a good personal trainer
A good personal trainer in Vancouver, BC holds a recognised certification, can show real client results, publishes clear prices and cancellation terms, and starts you from your current level. Ask about each of these before you book a first session.

1. Check the certification
Ask which organisation certified the trainer and whether their First Aid is current. Celal is an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer with First Aid certification.
2. Look for real results, shared with permission
Before and after photos should come from real clients who agreed to share them. Celal's client results are shared with each client's permission, faces cropped.
3. Get prices and terms before you commit
A trainer should tell you the price per session, how it changes with frequency, and the cancellation notice up front.
- 1 session a week: $90 CAD per session, $360 CAD every 4 weeks
- 2 sessions a week: $85 CAD per session, $680 CAD every 4 weeks
- 3 sessions a week: $80 CAD per session, $960 CAD every 4 weeks
- Cancellation: pay as you go training and monthly online coaching can be cancelled with four weeks' notice. Prepaid packages have a 10 day cooling off period with a full refund. After that, used sessions are charged at the pay as you go rate and the rest is refunded. Injury, illness or a move of more than 30 km means every unused session is refunded at the package rate.
4. Make sure they start from your level
Yes. Every program starts from your current level. If you're new, we focus on technique and building the habit first, then progress from there.
5. Ask what happens between sessions
One hour a week is a small part of your week. Ask whether you get a program for the other days and guidance on nutrition.
- Training built around your goal and your level
- One to one sessions focused on technique, proper form and progress
- A program for the days between sessions
- Guidance on nutrition habits, with regular follow up
FAQ
Good questions
How do I find a good online personal trainer?
The same checks apply, plus three more: how the program is delivered, how often you check in, and whether they review your form from video. Celal's online coaching runs through Trainerize with regular check ins, video form reviews and message support, for $240 CAD per month.
What should I ask a personal trainer before the first session?
Ask about their certification and experience, the price per session and how it changes with frequency, the cancellation notice, where sessions take place, and what you do between sessions.
Do you coach natural lifters?
Yes. I earned my pro card in 2024 in the WNBF, a drug tested natural federation, so I know its standards from the inside. I coach with structured programming, good technique, food and consistency.
